Writing Advice on the Web
My Favorite Writing Advice:BIC (butt in chair)—It's ubiquitous, but true. You can't be a writer if you don't write. You can't get better without practice. You can't sell anything that isn't done (not the first time anyway).
The rest of these are some of my personal light bulb moments. They aren't the things you see everywhere. Hopefully you'll find them as helpful as I did.
Eleanor Arnason on showing vs. telling—"People only think they want to be shown. In fact, they want to be shown and told; and that's what I do these days." The Wyrdsmiths blog is chock full of good stuff, but this one in particular made the lights go on.
Will Shetterly has lots of interesting thoughts on writing. Many, but not all of them are linked from this post. He's also great about letting you follow along as a story is taking shape.
